General Rules

Craps is that it is a game of rounds that features the rolling of two dice to determine the outcomes of wagers. The first roll is called the "come out" roll. Sometimes wagers can be resolved on the come out roll. This is mostly true when a 2, 3, 7, 11 or 12 is rolled on the come out. These rolls will result in an immediate end to the round. If any other total is rolled, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10, then the "point" is established and the round continues. A white puck will be moved over top of the number that is established as the point. Once the point has been established the dice will continue to roll until the point is rolled again or a 7 is rolled. There are many different wagers in craps, see below for an explanation for each.

The Pass Line
The most simple and basic of all craps bets is the betting on the pass line. The pass line pays at 1:1. You start by placing your wager on the "Pass Line" area. Once you have placed this bet you can roll the dice. If a 7 or 11 come up, you win your bet. If a 2, 3 or 12 come up, you lose. If any other number comes up, your bets remains until either the point is made or a 7 is rolled.

Taking Odds
Taking the odds on a pass line wager is only true even money wager in the casino. Once you have placed your pass line bet and the point has been made, you can back up or raise your pass line wager. The amount you can raise is indicated by the sign at the left of the table. If the point is made before a 7 is rolled, you win the your odds wager and your pass line wager. If the point is 6 or 8, the odds line wager pays out at 6-5, if the point is 5 or 9, the odds pay 3-2 and if the point is 4 or 10, the odds pay 2-1.

The odds multiples allowed are explained below:

1X - odds wager of equal your pass line wager
2X - odds wager of double your pass line wager
Full Double Odds - 2.5 times odds on 6 or 8 and double on all other numbers
3X - odds wager of triple your pass line wager
3-4-5X - 3 times odds on 4 and 10, 4 times odds on 5 and 9, 5 times odds on 6 and 8
5X - odds wager of 5 times your pass line wager
10X - odds wager of 10 times your pass line wager
20X - odds wager of 20 times your pass line wager
100X - odds wager of 100 times your pass line wager

Don't Pass
This is almost the opposite of the pass line wager. If the roll comes out as a 2 or 3, the player wins the wager at 1-1. If a 7 or 11 is rolled, the player loses. If a 12 is rolled, the bet is a push. If any other numbers are rolled, the point is established and the player then wins when a 7 is rolled before the point is made.

Laying Odds
By laying odds on the Don't Pass bet, the player is betting that a 7 will be rolled before the point. The Laying Odds wager pays out as follows - if the point is:

4 or 10 pays 1-2
5 or 9 pays 2-3
6 or 8 pays 5-6

The odds multiplier is in effect to set the limits as to the amount of odds the player can lay.

Come Bets
The come bet allows the player to place a wager before the point has been made. The player places the "Come" wager in the area marked "Come" and after the next roll, the wager moves up to that number. If that number is made before a 7 is rolled, the player wins the come bet. If a 7 is rolled before the come wager is made, then all come bets are lost. If a 7 is rolled on the first roll of the come wager, then the player wins the come wager at 1:1 odds, just like the Pass Line. Also like the Pass Line, the player may also put money on the odds.

There is a special case with the come bet: if the point is made while there are still active come bets then special rules apply to the come out roll. The come out roll is still active to the come bets but does not apply to the respective odds bets. If the come bet is resolved on a come out roll then the odds bets are returned.

Don't Come Wager
The don't come bet is like the don't pass bet, but is made on a non-come out roll.

Place Bets
The 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10 are considered "place" numbers in craps. This bet allows the player to cover all or some of the place numbers immediately without waiting for the come out roll or the come bets. Place bets wagers are turned "off" during the come out roll.

Big 6/8
This is a bet that a 6 and/or 8 will be rolled before a 7. It pays even money.

Buy Bets
This is the same as a Place Bet but with different pay outs. The player may buy any of the place numbers which means to bet that point will be made before a 7 is rolled. All buy bets pay 1-1 minus a 5% house commission.

Hard Ways
There are four different hard ways bets: 4, 6, 8 and 10. A hard way is getting to one of the even points with a pair such as two 4s would equal a hard 8. The house pays as follows:

Hard 4 or 10 pays 7-1
Hard 6 or 8 pays 9-1

Lay Bets
The lay bet is the opposite of the buy bet, the player lays odds that a 7 will be rolled before any of the points. The player must pay a 5% commission on the fair odds. Fair odds are as follows:

4/10 pay 1-2
5/9 pay 2-3
6/8 pay 5-6

Place Bet
The player may bet on any of the points, if the number the player bets on is rolled before a 7 then the player wins according to the schedule below:

4/10 pays 9-5
5/9 pays 7-5
6/8 pays 7-6
